Tax Preparation & Planning for Estates

At Neikirk, Mahoney & Co. our ability to assist in estate planning exceeds the typical breadth of service performed by other professionals. Our managing partner holds a license to practice both accounting and law. We feel that this provides us with a unique advantage over other accounting firms, as we are able to work in the same office as the drafting attorney to really customize each estate plan to meet the particular needs of each client.

We also have extensive experience in the preparation of Estate & Gift tax returns. We utilize specialized software for the preparation of tax returns and the valuation of assets. Even though a partner in our firm is able to draft your estate plan, we realize that the attorney/client relationship is often times built on years of trust, and accordingly, we are also experienced working in cooperation with attorneys, individual executors, and trustees in this area.

We have the expertise to work with the whole gamut of estate planning vehicles, from the traditional married couple's inter vivos trusts or probate estates, to irrevocable life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, and family limited partnerships. We have worked with attorneys, charities, and clients in setting up charitable remainder trusts and implementing other charitable giving techniques. Additionally, we bring extensive experience and insight to the area of postmortem tax planning; from dealing with interrelated income tax / estate tax issues and elections, to analyzing the funding of various trusts.
